Irish Kilts

Now when you think of a kilt what pops into your head, a Bagpiper in full Highland Regalia piping away for everyone, right. Well the Irish have kilts as well.
A brief history of the Irish kilts;
Although the origin of the Irish kilts is uncertain and up for debate, current evidence is suggesting that the kilts was adopted by Irish nationalists at the beginning of the 20th century as a symbol of Celtic identity.
A commonly mistaken Irish clothing is the Irish “Lein-crich”, this garment is a long tunic, typically made in a solid color cloth, green, black and Saffron being the most common .
Solid color Irish kilts have been adopted by Irish Regiments within the British Army.
Kilts where adopted as a symbol of Gaelic nationalism in Ireland during the late 19th- early 20th centuries.
Irish kilts come in a number of "Irish District" tartans most of which are recent designs by Lochcarron of Scotland. The Ulster tartan is one of the oldest registered Irish tartans. There are other generic Irish tartans including the Irish National, St. Patrick's and Tara.
Irish kilts are made the same was as Scottish kilts, the selection is the same process, select the tartan, measure for the kilts, select the weight 10 oz or 13 oz.
And there you have the Irish kilt.
